Zachary Sahms
Zachary Sahms is a horn player, freelance performer, teacher, and music researcher. He attended the University of California Irvine on scholarship where he studied with Dr. Annie Bosler, whose specialties in positive performance practices and body-brain mapping fueled his curiosity for the instrument, inspiring his interests in pedagogy and music research. Further pursuing those interests, he completed his Masters of Music at Boston Conservatory at Berklee studying the biomechanics of playing the horn and using them to unlock optimal performance artistry under the guidance of Eli Epstein.
As a performer, Zachary has worked in opera, orchestral, and chamber ensembles, in addition to teaching artist and horn instructor roles teaching private and group lessons. Off the horn, he has held admissions positions at Boston Conservatory at Berklee in both operational and representative roles which fostered a passion for increasing access to collegiate music education. His recent work as a writer on the College Prep for Musicians team aims to spread awareness of the many routes musicians can take both educationally and professionally.
In his free time he enjoys fishing, movies, and spending time in his hometown San Diego, California.
