Union Representatives negotiate terms and conditions with employers to ensure that musicians are compensated and treated fairly when contracted to work. They have knowledge of local, federal, and state employment laws and regulations. They implement these terms in places where musicians are employed, like in professional orchestras, recording studios, or when musicians are on the road touring. Aside from monitoring compliance with employment contracts and agreements, Union Representatives administer grievance procedures and participate in arbitration to settle any disputes.
