A music executive is one of the highest management positions at a record label and is involved with all stages of creating a recording. They make major executive decisions including hiring artists, creating contracts, managing recording personnel, and leading marketing and distribution. This is a great position for someone who wants to be a leader in the music industry and who enjoys working closely with artists, engineers, and various people within the industry. 

Since music executives are required to have knowledge of a lot of various aspects of the industry, many executives will obtain a degree in music business and will work in other parts of music administration before becoming an executive.
