Also known as Stagehands
The stage crew are responsible for executing all the logistics on the stage and ensuring the smooth coordination of concert programs. They receive their instructions from a stage manager, who has studied the needs of each program, identifying the stage set-up and equipment necessary to successfully produce the concert. Stage crew usually have a general knowledge about audio and lighting needs. Stage crew are regularly around musicians, conductors, guest artists and staff at an orchestra.
Stage crew are needed for all types of live performances, but depending on the gig may only be hired for a load-in or load-out (when the most stage crew are needed). They are often the first to arrive and the last to leave a performance space, which means long days but no two days are the same. This is a great career for someone who enjoys a lot of variety.
