Record Label Executive
A person who performs executive duties (CEO, COO, CIO, etc) for a record label is called a record label executive.
Record label executives are those at the top of the company or their specific department, working with a board of directors or a record label owner to ensure the duties of the company are running smoothly. They are the ones in charge of any major company projects and make the big decisions regarding finances, marketing, or operations. While they may have a lot of power to influence the direction of a company, they also have a lot of responsibility to take care of all their employees and clients.
Executives are expected to have an understanding of the music industry and many years of experience. To jumpstart a career, it is recommended that an aspiring executive gain experience through internships in addition to a degree in a related field such as business or law with an emphasis in music.
