Lawyer

A lawyer is someone who practices law. In music, this means practicing law in the context of the music industry. This can mean advocating for copyright laws, agreements between artists and record labels, marketing rights, and much more. A music lawyer may work within a court or they may work as a consultant within a record label or other music administration company. 

A lawyer in music is expected to have a strong understanding of the music industry. For this reason, many music lawyers will obtain an undergraduate degree in a related field such as law or business with an emphasis on music. They are also required to obtain their law degree and pass the bar exam.
