A Manager of Education & Community Programs oversees and coordinates all aspects of educational and community engagement programs of an organization.
Overseeing various types of educational programs, the manager of Education & Community Programs connects their organization to the community of students surrounding them. Some tasks include developing a robust curriculum, assessment tools, and digital resources to support educators and students in their programs; researching, selecting, and planning the artists, content and concert repertoire to introduce diverse musical genres and basic music skills; and providing general administrative support within their team and acting as an interdepartmental liaison.
They work to assist an organization’s aim for the best music education as a tool for community development and social change. The program manager is also responsible for organization of logistics like student registration, rehearsal space availability, and scheduling. Connecting professional orchestras, teaching artists, and other members of an organization with their local schools and communities, the program manager’s duties help to give students the opportunity to join highly participatory arts programs that develop self-confidence, leadership, and team-building through activities that create strong community connections.
